Are you a practical, hands-on person with DIY, maintenance, construction, facilities or similar experience, looking for a secure and varied role where you can develop your skills and make a genuine difference?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded secondary school as part of a close-knit and experienced Estates team. You'll receive extensive training, long-term job security and the opportunity to develop your skills across a broad range of site and facilities duties.
The school is a large secondary academy with over 1,350 students and a long history within the local community. This is a genuinely varied position where no two days are the same. Depending on your shift, you could be opening or securing the school, completing minor repairs and decorating, carrying out site and health & safety checks, setting up rooms and events, coordinating deliveries and contractors, maintaining the grounds or supporting community users of the school's facilities. You do not need previous experience working within a school or specific qualifications. The key thing is that you are practical, willing to get stuck in and keen to learn. The school invests heavily in its staff, with training available across areas including health & safety, first aid, asbestos, Legionella and other job-specific requirements. Pasted markdown
There is also a genuine long-term career path. The wider team includes both a Site Manager and Estates Manager, and the school has historically looked internally when progression opportunities become available.
The Role:
Varied Site Assistant / facilities position within a secondary school Minor repairs, maintenance, decorating and general site duties Opening and securing the school as a key holder Supporting contractors, deliveries, events and community lettings Grounds maintenance and general upkeep Rotating shifts covering approximately 6am-2pm, 10am-6pm and 2pm-10pm 37 hours per week Excellent internal and external training The Person:
