An established civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project on the Orkney Islands.
Working alongside the Site Agent and wider delivery team, you will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance and coordinating day-to-day site activities. The project will include groundworks, drainage, cable management, earthworks, utilities and service diversions, small reinforced concrete structures and general civil engineering works.
The role will involve setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment, producing QA documentation and inspection records, maintaining accurate as-built information, supervising subcontractors and ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to specification. You will also liaise with Site Agents, Section Engineers and the design team while maintaining high standards of quality and health and safety.
Applicants must have previous Site Engineering experience, strong setting-out capability and experience producing QA and as-built documentation. Familiarity with Leica, Trimble or similar surveying equipment is required, alongside a solid civil engineering or construction background.
Candidates from rail, highways, utilities, water, energy, general civil engineering and wider construction backgrounds will be considered. Specific sector experience is not required, provided you have strong engineering fundamentals and can hit the ground running within a live project environment.
The position offers £350 - £375 per day Inside IR35 on an initial 6–8-month contract. The rotation is 11 days on and three days off, with accommodation, food, flights and rotational travel provided.
