Site Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a leading contractor on sizeable new build education schemes in Cumbria.

The project is being delivered by a well-established main contractor specialising in large-scale construction projects across the education, commercial and public sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer looking for long-term freelance work, with an anticipated duration of 3–4 years.

Long-term freelance opportunity: 3–4 years of anticipated work.

Location: Cumbria.

If travelling, lodging will be covered by the client.

Opportunity to work on a substantial programme of new-build projects.

Key Responsibilities

Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings and specifications.

Ensuring works are delivered accurately and in line with project requirements.

Interpreting construction drawings and providing technical support to site teams.

Monitoring quality and ensuring works comply with relevant standards.

Coordinating with subcontractors, site management and other project stakeholders.

Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress.

Ensuring all works are carried out in line with health and safety requirements.

Requirements

Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on construction projects.

Strong setting-out skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings.

Experience with total stations, GPS and other surveying equipment.

Experience working on new-build projects; education or public-sector experience would be advantageous.

Ability to work away from home in Cumbria for the duration of the project.

Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent site experience.
