Key Responsibilities * Supervise and manage construction works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme. * Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across all site activities. * Ensure all subcontractors comply with site standards, health & safety requirements and project specifications. * Allocate labour and resources daily to ensure works are adequately resourced by competent personnel. * Ensure all required plant, tools and materials are available, reporting shortages to the Site Agent or Project Manager. * Review work documentation to ensure all information is suitable and sufficient for the planned activities. * Accept and manage permits, ensuring they are included within work packs and issued to the relevant workforce. * Carry out daily setting-to-work briefings with operatives, supervisors and subcontractors. * Deliver and record Daily Activity Briefings, Pre-Start Briefings, Toolbox Talks and End-of-Shift Debriefs. * Supervise operatives, supervisors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all health & safety, environmental and quality procedures. * Ensure all works are carried out under appropriate safe systems of work and that all required briefings have been completed. * Review site records completed by operatives and supervisors, submitting documentation to the Site Agent as required. * Assist the Site Agent with programming works, resource planning and plant/material requirements. * Oversee plant deliveries, inspections, utilisation and associated documentation. * Carry out regular Health, Safety and Environmental inspections and audits. * Lead by example, promoting high standards of professionalism, safety and site conduct. * Complete employee documentation, including Return to Work paperwork where required. * Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation. * Attend site progress meetings as required. * Report all Health, Safety and Environmental incidents in accordance with company procedures. Skills & Experience Required * SSSTS or SMSTS. * Valid CSCS Card. * Proven experience as a General Foreman within civil engineering, highways or infrastructure projects. * Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, highways and structures. * Previous experience managing site operatives and subcontractors. * Good understanding of construction health & safety legislation and safe systems of work. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * Ability to prioritise workload and adapt to changing site requirements. * Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. * Full UK Driving Licence.
