Job Description - Site Manager

Site Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time

Our client is on the lookout for a high-performing Site Manager to take charge of one of their flagship depots. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to lead from the front, drive operational excellence, and make a real impact in a fast-paced, essential industry.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will be the driving force behind the depot’s daily operations—ensuring everything runs like clockwork, from fleet availability and driver supervision to safety compliance and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading and motivating the traffic dispatch and site teams to deliver top-tier service, safety, and profitability.
  • Managing daily operations, ensuring vehicles, drivers, and routes are optimised and ready to go.
  • Planning and executing waste and quarry operations, adapting quickly to seasonal and customer demands.
  • Taking ownership of site compliance, health & safety, and environmental standards.
  • Handling all site admin—from payroll and costing to compliance reporting and performance tracking.
  • Driving HR functions including recruitment, training, performance management, and absence control.
  • Supporting the mobilisation of new contracts and re-routing strategies.
  • Stepping in for the Depot Manager when needed and ensuring seamless handovers.


What Our Client is Looking For
  • A proven leader with experience in waste, logistics, or service operations.
  • Strong people management skills, ideally in a unionised environment.
  • CPC qualification (desirable).
  • Solid understanding of transport legislation and local geography.
  • Experience working with regulatory permits and site operating plans.
  • Background in landfill, quarrying, or civil engineering is a bonus.
  • A proactive, hands-on manager who thrives in a dynamic environment.
