MPH Construction Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced Rail Site Manager to join our growing rail division based in South Wales.



This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an expanding business delivering a diverse range of construction, civil engineering and building projects across the rail network for Network Rail, Transport for Wales and other key rail clients.



Working as part of our South Wales delivery team, you will be responsible for managing projects safely from inception through to completion, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.



The Role


As Rail Site Manager you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of rail construction projects including:



  • Station improvements and refurbishment works

  • Buildings and structures

  • Minor civil engineering works

  • Platform works

  • Drainage and fencing

  • Security and SISS installations

  • Reactive maintenance and planned framework projects



Key Responsibilities



  • Manage projects safely from start through to completion.

  • Deliver projects in accordance with programme, budget and specification.

  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail, Transport for Wales and company standards.

  • Produce and review construction programmes, RAMS and site documentation.

  • Maintain excellent Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.

  • Monitor project progress and report to the Contracts Manager.

  • Identify risks and manage project constraints.

  • Manage site records, permits, inspections and quality assurance documentation.

  • Liaise with clients, designers, CREs, CEMs and framework delivery teams.

  • Promote a positive safety culture across all projects.


 


Projects will typically be delivered during day shifts, night shifts and weekend possessions throughout South Wales.


The Ideal Candidate will have:



  • At least 5 years' experience managing construction projects within the rail industry.

  • Experience working for a Principal Contractor delivering Network Rail or Transport for Wales projects.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

  • A proactive approach to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and client interfaces.



The successful candidate will be:



  • A confident leader with excellent communication skills.

  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects.

  • Commercially aware with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Customer focused and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.

  • Flexible to workdays, nights and weekends where project requirements dictate.

  • Based within, or willing to travel throughout, South Wales.



 Essential Qualifications



  • SMSTS

  • CSCS Managers Card

  • First Aid at Work

  • Full UK Driving Licence



Desirable Qualifications



  • Personal Track Safety (PTS)

  • COSS

  • Temporary Works Coordinator

  • NRSWA Supervisor

  • IOSH or NEBOSH

  • Experience of Network Rail standards and procedures
