4myschools are proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected specialist education setting in Hertfordhshire to recruit an experienced and compassionate Sixth Form SEND Teacher on a permanent, full-time basis. This well-established and purpose-built provision supports learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs, delivering a personalised, inclusive pathway-based curriculum centred around communication, independence, life skills and preparation for adulthood. The setting provides a calm, nurturing and well-resourced environment, with a strong ethos of dignity, respect and enabling every learner to achieve meaningful outcomes beyond the classroom.
As a Sixth Form Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering highly differentiated, post-16 learning programmes tailored to individual EHCP outcomes. You will embed functional learning, life skills and real-world experiences into a structured pathway curriculum, ensuring each learner develops skills that support independence and future transitions. Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists and families, you will contribute to a holistic approach to education, supporting communication development using a range of strategies and adapting teaching to meet complex sensory, physical and cognitive needs. The role will also involve monitoring progress, maintaining accurate records and supporting transition planning into adulthood, further education or supported living. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity within a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
Relocation support is available, via on-site accommodation options, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates considering a move to the area or seeking a fresh start within a specialist setting.
Ideal Candidate We are seeking a dedicated professional who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has demonstrable experience working within a SEND environment, ideally supporting learners with PMLD or complex needs. Experience delivering Sixth Form, post-16 or life skills/pathway-based curriculum is highly desirable. You will be confident differentiating learning, leading a team of support staff and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary setting. Candidates must be available on a full-time basis and have reliable access to transport due to the rural location of the setting. A patient, resilient and nurturing approach, alongside a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people with additional needs, is essential.
