AMLR are looking for a Skilled Aircraft Assembler to join a leading aerospace manufacturer based in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assembler with an aerospace or engineering background to work within a busy, high-quality manufacturing environment, assembling aircraft components to customer specifications and strict aerospace standards.
Key responsibilities for Skilled Aircraft Assembler:
* Carrying out the assembly of aircraft components to customer-defined specifications and required quality standards.
* Assembling new aircraft components using solid rivets and a range of hand and air riveting tools.
* Using air tools including drills, rivet guns and rivet presses.
* Using a wide range of hand tools and specialist assembly equipment.
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and assembly instructions.
* Adjusting sheet metal components as required to achieve the correct fit and finish during assembly.
* Applying sealants as part of the aircraft assembly process.
* Using Vernier callipers and other specialist measuring equipment to check component dimensions and ensure accuracy.
* Carrying out visual inspections of completed products to ensure they meet the required standards.
* Working with a range of different materials and finishes.
* Finishing precision-engineered aircraft components to the required specification.
* Identifying and reporting quality issues and supporting a right-first-time approach.
* Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping within the working area.
* Working flexibly across a range of assembly activities to meet production and output targets.
Requirements for Skilled Aircraft Assembler:
* Proven experience in a skilled assembly role, ideally within the aerospace or precision engineering sector.
* Strong engineering background with previous aircraft, sheet-metal or structural assembly experience.
* Proven experience using hand and air riveting tools.
* Current experience using air tools such as drills, rivet guns and rivet presses.
* Experience working with solid rivets and aircraft components.
* Experience using Vernier callipers and other specialist measuring equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Experience adjusting sheet-metal components for assembly.
* Previous experience using sealants within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Experience working with a range of materials and finishes.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve assembly issues.
* Ability to work accurately to customer specifications and aerospace quality standards.
* Flexible approach with the ability to undertake a range of manufacturing and assembly activities.
