Skilled Toolroom Machinist at Phoenix Tooling & Development Ltd

Introduction:
Phoenix Tooling & Development Ltd is seeking a highly skilled machinist to join its dynamic, financially robust, and growing organisation. The company is a leading player in the precision press metal toolroom sector, operating from clean, modern, and well-organised premises in Aldridge, near Walsall. The ideal candidate will be an experienced machinist with specific expertise in programming and operating Mazak Vertical Machining Centres. This is a full-time position based on 39 hours per week plus overtime, offering competitive rates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, set up, and operate Mazak Vertical Machining Centres, ensuring all parts are machined to meet stringent quality standards.

• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models, following detailed work instructions meticulously.

• Apply advanced knowledge of tooling, fixturing, and machining processes to optimise operations for maximum efficiency and accuracy.

• Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery to prevent downtime and ensure continuous operation.

• Work closely with engineering teams to discuss and resolve any machining or accuracy issues.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company standards and industry best practices.

• Assist in other machining and toolmaking tasks as required and provide mentorship to junior machinists to support skill development.
