Job Description - Skills Advisor

Are you passionate about driving growth and sustainability in businesses?

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Skills Advisor to join our esteemed Skills Bootcamp programme. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in delivering the Leadership & Management and Organisational Sustainability components, bridging skills gaps for all types of businesses and individuals through a range of strategic & theoretical skillsets. Covering knowledge areas that include key management and leadership theories, leadership style and coaching skills, project management principles, definitions of sustainable development, understanding of the climate and ecological emergencies & understanding the impact of zero waste.
About the Role
The Skills Advisor will be expected to engage with local residents and SMEs in the region through a range of marketing activities including digital, social media, networking, and partner referrals. The Skills Advisor will also be delivering workshops and 1:1 advice to help ambitious businesses achieve their goals delivered through various venues across the South West region with occasional travel to Bristol.
Key Responsibilities:
No two days are ever the same and we need a proactive, and driven person to support the delivery of our programs in the region. Working in a small team, as the Skills Advisor, you will be expected to undertake the following:
Attending, and speaking at, a broad range of networking events to engage a high number of residents and businesses
Provide 1:1 support to ensure our clients' business strategies are robust and well-articulated, including preparing and advising on business development plans and management styles
To deliver our workshops/training to start up businesses and SMEs on topic such as Project Management principles, leadership & coaching skills, as well as being responsible for creating new content according to expertise and client demand
Responsible for developing a network of local partners and stakeholders, with whom you will foster, develop, and maintain excellent working relationships
Ensuring that our client evidence records, and CRM system are complete, accurate and up to date, and provide high-quality, timely, accurate and intelligent reporting in line with contract requirements
Delivering excellent client service at all times to funders and partners. The maintenance of our quality standards and building of a strong reputation is of great importance
Proactively seek to add value to the service, our clients, funder, and partner, and the company as a whole
Person Specifications:
Essential:
Graduate or similar industry experience
Minimum 3 years relevant coaching or mentoring experience
A demonstrable ability to network with, and build and maintain, relationships with a variety of stakeholder organisations
Expertise across business strategy and sustainability awareness
Experience of organising and delivering successful events
Be able to present effectively to small groups as well as in 1:1 setting
Able to demonstrate the ability and desire to work supportively as part of a team
Good organisational skills and a self-starter with an attitude of going the extra mile to support the team, our partners, and our clients
Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace change and development
An understanding of the local SME community and barriers to growth
Excellent written and spoken English and highly IT literate, with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Zoom
Presenting experience and confidence in communicating with a wide range of people and organisations
Desirable:
Formal project management or sustainability qualification
Teaching experience
Knowledge of the public sector or similar funding sectors - such as Shared Prosperity Fund, Skills for Life etc.
Experience of working with hard-to-reach communities
