Are you a passionate SEND Teacher committed to supporting children and young people with hearing impairment, speech, language and communication needs? We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and adaptable teacher to join our specialist team, working with pupils aged 2–19 years.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help children develop the communication skills, confidence and independence they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
The Role
You will deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to each pupil's communication needs, supporting learners from Early Years through to Post-16. Working closely with teaching assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers of the Deaf, families and other professionals, you'll create an inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
We are looking for someone who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential). Has experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly:
Hearing Impairment (HI) Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Social Communication Difficulties
Has a caring, patient and nurturing approach. Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals. Delivers engaging, child-centred learning that promotes communication, confidence and independence. Is creative, adaptable and committed to inclusive education.
Desirable Skills & Training
Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:
Makaton British Sign Language (BSL) PECS Signalong AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Intensive Interaction Attention Autism Total Communication approaches Visual communication strategies and sensory communication techniques Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) Supporting pupils with hearing aids or cochlear implants
