Full Turnkey Smart Metering Supervisor

Salary: £250 Day Rate
Location: Suffolk
Working Hours: 10 hour per day

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Full Turnkey Smart Metering Supervisor to oversee the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of smart metering works from planning through to completion.

You will be responsible for supervising field teams carrying out excavation, meter installation, backfill and reinstatement, while working closely with Planning, Street works and operational teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and right first time.

This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone who takes ownership, can manage multiple teams and is confident challenging poor standards when required.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise field teams completing full turnkey smart metering works.
Ensure installations, excavations and reinstatement meet required standards.
Carry out regular site visits and provide visible field supervision.
Monitor team productivity, quality and performance.
Work with Planning to ensure teams have suitable workloads and productive routes.
Identify and resolve access, permit, traffic management, materials and resource issues.
Review aborted jobs and identify opportunities to improve completion rates.
Ensure works comply with NRSWA, Streetworks and highway requirements.
Monitor permits, working restrictions and potential overruns.
Ensure safe excavation practices and underground services procedures are followed.
Monitor backfill, compaction and reinstatement quality.
Carry out safety inspections, audits and toolbox talks.
Challenge unsafe working practices and stop work where necessary.
Ensure accurate job records, photographs, meter details and completion evidence are captured.
Manage snagging and ensure defects are rectified promptly.
Coach and develop field operatives and identify training requirements.
Support the onboarding and competency assessment of new teams.
Work closely with Planning, Streetworks, Reinstatement and Management teams.About You

We are looking for someone with strong practical experience within utilities, smart metering, clean water, service connections or similar environments.

You should have:

Previous supervisory or management experience within utilities or field operations.
Strong knowledge of NRSWA and Streetworks.
Experience of excavation and reinstatement works.
Understanding of traffic management and underground service avoidance.
Experience managing multiple field teams.
Strong health & safety awareness.
Good organisational and planning skills.
The confidence to challenge poor workmanship and unsafe practices.
A proactive approach to solving problems before they affect delivery.
Excellent communication and people-management skills.What We're Looking For
