Social Media Officer

Our local authority client based in Eseex are urgently seeking an experienced Social Media Officer.

Location - Brentwood and Rochford – 2/3 days office, need to attend both locations. Then other days at home

MAIN PURPOSE

We are looking for a creative and proactive Social Media Officer to join our team and deliver the Council's priorities. We are looking for someone who is self‑motivated with a flair for creativity and a passion for digital communications and storytelling.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Create lively, engaging content across our social platforms including:

* High quality written content both short and long form

* graphic content and imagery for social media, newsletters and Intranet

* smartphone video and photography (recording and editing).

1. Schedule, publish and monitor social media content, responding to our audiences in a timely, friendly and human tone

2. Monitor media and social media coverage and report back as necessary.

3. Ensure the effective use and management of the Councils’ social media channels.

4. Identify developments in social media and emerging new platforms, and suggest new approaches.

5. Collect, analyse and report on customer insight data for both organic and paid campaigns.

6. Support other members of the Communications Team to translate their campaigns into engaging social media content.

7. Design multimedia assets for use on social media.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

* Experience of social media video, image and content production, to deliver engaging digital content.

* Creative management skills to take an idea from concept through to delivery with camera, lighting, sound recording, and editing experience.

* Strong experience in image and video editing

* Experience reporting on social media and digital activity, identifying any trends

* Understanding of communications in a political local government/public services environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Ability to work flexibly to meet competing demands to tight deadlines, with exceptional problem-solving skills

* Understanding of managing social media content and scheduling software in a business situation

* Able to translate complex messages into simple, engaging content using a combination of words and pictures.
