The Social Value Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering and monitoring social value activities across construction projects. The role ensures that contractual and organisational social value commitments are translated into meaningful, measurable outcomes for local communities, businesses and individuals.
The Social Value Manager will work closely with project teams, clients, supply chain partners, local authorities and community organisations to identify opportunities and ensure social value is embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement social value strategies and action plans for construction projects.
* Review client requirements and contractual social value commitments and ensure these are incorporated into project delivery plans.
* Identify opportunities to maximise social value through employment, skills, training, education, community engagement, local procurement and environmental initiatives.
* Work closely with project and commercial teams to ensure social value commitments are achievable, monitored and delivered.
* Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, schools, colleges, charities, community groups and employment and training organisations.
* Coordinate initiatives including apprenticeships, work experience, careers events, volunteering, employability programmes and community activities.
* Support the delivery of local employment and skills opportunities arising from construction projects.
* Work with procurement and supply chain teams to increase opportunities for local SMEs, social enterprises and businesses.
* Monitor local spend, employment, training and other agreed social value outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records and evidence of social value activities and outcomes.
* Track performance against project KPIs and contractual commitments.
* Prepare regular social value reports, dashboards and performance updates for clients and internal stakeholders.
* Provide evidence of outcomes for client reporting, project reviews and project close-out.
* Contribute to tender and bid submissions by developing credible and deliverable social value commitments.
* Develop case studies and communications showcasing social value achievements.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practice across projects.
* Ensure social value is considered from pre-construction through to project completion and handover.
* Represent the organisation at relevant stakeholder, community and industry meetings.
