Job Description - Social Worker

Children's Social Worker

?? Location: South West London
?? Contract: Permanent or Locum
?? Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
?? Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

About the Role

Our client, a well-regarded local authority in South West London, is seeking an experienced and passionate Children's Social Worker to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a forward-thinking service committed to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

You will work as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team, carrying out statutory social work responsibilities to assess, plan, and safeguard the wellbeing of children. The council is proud of its investment in social work practice, reflective supervision, and manageable caseloads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake complex assessments and make evidence-based recommendations and decisions.

  • Develop and implement child-centred plans in line with statutory requirements.

  • Manage a protected and varied caseload, ensuring timely intervention and review.

  • Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies.

  • Contribute to safeguarding investigations and represent the authority in court proceedings when required.

  • Ensure accurate and timely case recording in line with legal and procedural requirements.

Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)

  • SWE (Social Work England) registration

  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualifying experience in children's services (e.g., safeguarding, CP, CIN, LAC)

  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004

  • Strong communication, assessment, and analytical skills

  • Commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed practice
