Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RA and various locations 


Salary: £32,070 - £34,359 for Newly Qualified Social Workers, £35,451 to £39,165 for Level 2 Social Workers, £39,939 to £42,699 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending) plus £3,300 market premia payment for Level 3 Social Workers


Working Hours: 37 & 18.5 hours per week 


Contract Type: Permanent & Fixed Term

Here at Leicestershire County Council, we have exciting opportunities available to Newly Qualified Social Workers, as well as experienced Level 2 and Level 3 Social Workers, with a passion for working in collaboration with people facing a wide range of issues. 


About the Role


All our teams are friendly and supportive, with regular supervision and our employees have manageable workloads. The teams hold weekly Group Supervision Meetings, to promote the best possible outcomes for the people we work with across Leicestershire. We provide a comprehensive induction package with ongoing access to bespoke learning and development opportunities. This includes tailored continuous professional development sessions and access to academic research and practice expertise to develop skills, experience and inform our employee’s practice. 


We are now delighted to be able to offer vacancies within the following teams: 



  • Team Management – Charnwood (fixed term, 12 months, 37 hours per week)

  • Mental Health Review Team (permanent, 18.5 hours per week)

  • Learning Disabilities & Autism – Hinckley (permanent, 37 hours per week)

  • Mental Health Locality & Reablement – Blaby, Oadby, Wigston (permanent, 18.5 hours per week)


We are looking for: 



  • Newly Qualified Social Workers: £32,070 to £34,359

  • Level 2 Social Worker: £35,451 to £39,165

  • Level 3 Social Worker: £39,939 to £44,699 plus market supplement of £3,300 (£43,239 to £45,999)

About You


To apply for this post, you must (include JD requirements in a maximum of 7 bullet points)



  • Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.

  • Have knowledge of social work methodologies, social care policies such as person-centred approaches and asset based social work, and relevant legislation including The Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act. 

  • Have experience of effective assessment and risk management delivery, and multi-agency/multidisciplinary working and/or hospital discharge processes. 

  • Have experience of partnership working with adults to identify and meet need with creative and pragmatic solutions. 

  • Be a confident communicator who is skilled in diplomacy, persuasion, assertive and conflict management and able to build effective working relationships.

  • Be able to work proactively individually but also as a team member. 

  • Have good prioritisation and time management skills and have a valid UK driving licence or access to a vehicle
