A senior developer position has become vacant in the Pensions Software Develoment team. The developer is expected to participate in software and digital deliveries. This position is also expected to train and mentor new joiners on our products and software development frameworks.

Great opportunity for an experienced Software/Application Developer to join our team to take responsibility for development & delivery of our Pensions Applications developed within Capita Pensions Solutions. Based in Bristol, you will be part of the development specialists to provide product development & support services.
What You’ll Be Doing: Designing and developing solutions for new requirements and enhancements & fixes to existing modules. Providing application support and bug fixing. Producing documentation to agreed standards. Maintaining high coding standards Delivers to agreed schedules. Ensures system issues and faults are resolved effectively. Ensure efficient escalation of higher priority calls (ie P1’s and Major Incidents) to the line manager. Participates in standardisation, definition and adoption of development lifecycle documentation. Performing System Testing on new or existing systems as required. Ensuring system issues and faults are resolved effectively. Working closely with the Senior Systems Analyst to ensure delivery of client solutions. Communicates ideas and contributes to technical discussions.
What we’re looking for: Good software and application development experience Degree in Computer Science or similar Experience of MS Technologies, (.Net, MVC, SQL Server, Jscript, CSS, ASP .Net, JSP) Experience of supporting commercial managed services/hosted solutions Ability to develop web-based interfaces using HTML, CSS, JSP, Javascript and JQuery. Ability to manage a Relational database (MS SQL Server, Sybase ASE and Oracle). Including, how to create and modify database, tables and indexes, logical and physical database layouts, database management, security, backup and recovery technique. Ability to manage a database for optimum performance. Able to use MS Excel, Outlook and Project Excellent verbal, written and presentational skills. Ability to prioritise and focus limited resources for maximum business impact. Operational experience on both technology application and infrastructure Strong fundamentals in Object Oriented programming and Database design Proven programming and problem solving skills. Ability to prioritise and manage tasks in a high-pressure environment. Proficiency in all available IT packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Reporting and presentation skills
