Job Description - Software Engineer

Who are we:
Closed Loop Medicine is a fast growing, UK healthcare technology company developing an exciting portfolio of drug and digital combination products, transforming drug effectiveness through optimisation by providing every drug its real time digital companion to improve patient outcomes. The company has two primary products focused on individual solutions in Hypertension and Insomnia but is always innovating and currently developing our pipeline with a single-prescription combination product that caters to the needs of patients suffering from chronic disease. Ensuring that the patient and clinician are put at the centre of our product solutions is a key ambition.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the CLM Software Delivery team and build a novel technology platform and drug + digital products for personalised medicine.

You will work in a friendly and supportive software development team and will enjoy personal development opportunities.

What you will be doing:

Development of CLM medical device software components and patient-facing products using Java and AWS cloud technologies.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable and reliable AWS-based backend applications and services.
Collaborate with other engineers to ensure code quality, performance, and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues and bugs in a timely manner.
Learn new technologies and skills and share your knowledge with the team.

Education and experience:
At least 3 years of professional software development experience, preferably in a cloud-based environment and in a modern programming language (e.g., Java, JS, TypeScript) and has worked in introducing new products/services to the market (not only building new features for existing products, for example have built an API from scratch).
Ability to design and implement autonomously, every team member owns part of the solutions built from start-to-end, learning on the way but also passing knowledge earned across the team.
Experienced in AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, etc.
Strong knowledge of backend development using languages such as Java, Node.js, C#, etc and willing to learn and work with Java on a daily basis.
Experience in implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices such as CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, etc.
Good understanding of software engineering principles, best practices, and design patterns.

Desirable skills:
Experience across the full development lifecycle, and able to apply Agile methods or other development methodologies as appropriate.
Ability to develop software inline with software requirements, identify gaps, and apply boundary analysis and other formal techniques to requirements.
Knowledge of medical device Quality Management Systems and standards such as ISO 13485 or IEC 62304.
Experience building medical applications, or applications in domains with similar regulatory constraints.
