Job Description - Software Engineer (Trading Systems)

NextWave Consulting are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join NextWave and play a key role in the future TOM of a buy-side client of ours. who is currently implementing Charles River, and EMS called Adroit and their "Alpine Data Lake" built on the Databricks platform. They are also utilising State Streets "Alpha Data Platform" as part of the outsourcing.

The successful candidate will collaborate with technology teams, trading desks, and external vendors (Databricks and Charles River) to design, integrate, and optimise platforms and extract required data.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of various trading systems.
Develop and maintain applications and services using Python and .Net along with experience in Databricks
Write and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to ensure high-performance data access and reporting.
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring system stability and resilience.
Follow best practices for coding, testing, and deployment in a regulated environment.

Key Requirements

Proven experience as a Software Engineer / Developer within investment management / Asset Management
Strong programming skills in Python and .Net along with experience in Databricks.
Experience with OMS platforms, ideally Charles River SaaS
Experience with the Alpha Data Platform (ADP) highly advantageous (State Street Data Platform)
Hands-on experience with API development, integration, and management
Advanced knowledge of SQL databases
Familiarity with trading workflows, market data, and order/execution management systems is highly desirable
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and be proactive in solving engineering challenges.
