We're recruiting for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of circa eight engineers and testers within an established technology business. This is an opportunity to develop people, influence technical decisions and drive software delivery in a fast paced environment.
This is a hands off coding role. You must still be comfortable reading and reviewing code, contributing to technical discussions and providing guidance to your team.
The role
Working closely with Product and Scrum teams, you'll take responsibility for your team's performance, development and delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, coaching and developing a team of circa eight engineers and testers. Managing performance, providing regular feedback and supporting career progression. Reviewing code and contributing to decisions around software design, architecture and maintainability. Improving code quality, testing practices and ways of working. Working with Product teams to plan priorities and deliver against the roadmap. Removing obstacles and managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment. Supporting recruitment and building the skills needed within the team. Helping the team make effective use of AI assisted development tools.
About you
You'll have a strong software engineering background and experience leading engineers within an Agile environment. You'll enjoy developing people while retaining the technical understanding to challenge decisions and assess the quality of the work being delivered. We're looking for:
Experience managing, coaching and mentoring software engineers. A technical background across technologies such as .NET, C#, React, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript and Azure. The ability to read and review code, even though you are no longer coding daily. Experience managing software delivery and responding to changing priorities. A strong understanding of code quality, test driven development and continuous improvement. Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders. An interest in cloud technologies and AI assisted development.
What's on offer
Alongside a competitive benefits package, you'll have access to professional development, wellbeing support and opportunities to progress and a salary up to circa £90k
