We are a dynamic SME operating within the mechanical engineering sector, comprising a group of companies delivering high-quality engineering solutions. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a hands-on and experienced Sole Finance Manager to take full ownership of our finance function.

Role Overview

As the Sole Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations across the group. This is a standalone role, ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy and is confident managing all aspects of finance within an SME environment.

Key Responsibilities

Full responsibility for day-to-day bookkeeping and management accounts using Xero

Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports for the group

Processing monthly payroll for 15 permanent staff

Managing monthly payments for 10 subcontractors, including CIS returns

Bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and cash flow forecasting

Liaising with external accountants and auditors

Supporting the Directors with financial planning and analysis

Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and deadlines

Requirements

Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally within an SME

Strong working knowledge of Xero

Experience with payroll processing and CIS returns

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently

Strong communication and organisational skills

AAT qualified or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
