A leading housing organisation with a strong social purpose is seeking an experienced Solicitor to join its established in-house Legal Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with a background in social housing, housing management and property litigation to join a supportive and collaborative legal function, providing specialist advice across a broad range of housing and property matters.
Reporting to the Head of Legal Services, you will work as part of a dedicated legal team, partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation and providing clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious housing and property matters, including:
* Housing management and landlord & tenant matters
* Possession proceedings and possession prevention
* Disrepair claims
* Injunctions and access issues
* Leasehold and service charge disputes
* Property-related matters, including agreements, licences and deeds
* Supporting operational teams with legal risk management and compliance
* Representing the organisation at court, tribunal and other hearings where required
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to improving legal processes, support knowledge sharing across the organisation and work closely with senior leaders on complex matters.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
* A qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate
* Ideally 3+ years’ PQE with recent experience in social housing law
* Experienced advising housing providers, local authorities or social housing clients in private practice
* Confident managing a complex caseload with minimal supervision
* Experienced in both contentious and non-contentious housing matters
* Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and translating legal advice into practical solutions
* Experienced in court and tribunal advocacy
Experience with wider property matters, data protection, regeneration or development work would be advantageous.
