Solicitor / Team Leader - Public Law & Human Rights

A highly respected, nationally recognised law firm is seeking a Solicitor to join its Public Law and Human Rights department as a Team Leader, based in London. This is a strategic position for an experienced practitioner ready to take on a leadership role within a specialist team focused on claims against public authorities.

With a Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked team, the firm handles complex and often high-profile work involving civil liberties, human rights, and accountability of state bodies. The successful candidate will lead a small team of lawyers, while also managing a rewarding caseload.

Department: Claims Against Public Authorities / Public Law
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Competitive (DOE/PQE) + On-Target Bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support a small team of solicitors and paralegals within the broader Public Law department
• Handle a range of complex claims involving public bodies such as police, prisons, local authorities, NHS Trusts, and care providers
• Oversee actions for breaches of human rights, negligence, and statutory duties
• Contribute to inquest work (desirable)
• Build and manage referrer relationships to support business development
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency supervisor standards for the CAPA contract
• Contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture
