Solution Architect - 9 Month contract

Job Title: Solution Architect
Location: Bristol/Hybrid (On-site 2 days per week)
Contract Length: 9 months (Starting November)
Day Rate: £425 - £500

Role:

•  Lead the solution architecture of complex solutions for products that deliver customer value and meet our quality, resilience, financial and technical objectives.
• Establish and maintain a solution architecture forward look to inform the product roadmaps. Considering currency and technical debt and key outcomes and epics, work ahead to shape the technical activities needed that allow teams to deliver and meet our architecture roadmaps in support of the product vision.
• Analyse complex options and implementation alternatives to propose solutions and create innovative designs using relevant architectural building blocks delivering modernised architectures
• Collaborate with stakeholders including product owners, engineering teams, and architecture
• Align with architectural standards, best practices, principles and patterns and contribute to the development of local standards and patterns as required. Where it is not possible to align with standards and patterns ensure an agreed position is reached, and technical debt or non-compliance is captured.
• Provide technical leadership, direction and guidance to engineering teams and other solution architects on architectural solutions.
• Lead others Inspiring people and achieving their full commitment to do the extraordinary
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance solution capabilities.
• Ensure solutions are resilient, secure, and scalable, meeting key non-functional requirements which align with enterprise architecture and our technology strategy.
• Provide solution oversight and conduct solution reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Manage and mitigate risks associated with solution architecture, driving resolution through architectural or agile practices.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in solution design and delivery.
• Deliver solutions in an agile manner, participating in agile ceremonies and using agile tools, working with feature teams in the flow of the work, ensuring iterative development and seeking continuous feedback to enable incremental customer value delivery.
• Maintain and enhance technical skills sufficiently to provide technical oversight and direction and stay current with technologies industry trends and best practices.
• Contribute to financial and technical planning, supporting Product Owners & Platform Leads
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Good to have; 
• Experience designing in cloud native Azure and Google Cloud architecture
• Experience with MicroServices architecture
• Experience with key technologies such as React, Typescript, Harness
• A good understanding of PCI compliance
• Experience working in a payments or financial services domain

Solution & Technical Architecture:

Balances quality requirements against costs to recommend upgrades based on technical trends or changes in the applications/systems that use the solution or technical architecture.

Technology Leadership:

Uses varied experience to manage complex technical work, ensuring alignment to technology principles. Coordinates technology changes impact across teams

Critical Thinking: 

Uses a systematic approach to derive the best solution, with awareness of biases. Explains and prioritises problems and their possible solutions with colleagues and other  stakeholders, even engaging in difficult conversation as required. Takes action to define, plan and implement the best solution, setting up and leading a team as required
