Solution / Platform Architect – Palantir Foundry
Role Summary
The Foundry Architect is accountable for the technical design, governance, and assurance of Palantir Foundry / FDP implementations. This role ensures that Foundry is used not just as a tool, but as a sustainable enterprise data platform, aligned to NHS operating models, information governance, and long -term reuse.
The architect provides technical leadership, defines patterns and guardrails, and bridges engineering delivery with platform governance and service management.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design Authority
Define and own the Foundry architecture across:
- ingestion
- curated layers
- semantic / ontology layers
- analytics and data products
Establish architectural patterns and standards for:
- pipeline design
- data modelling
- access control
- environment segregation
Ensure designs align with FDP constraints and NHS governance expectations.
Canonical Data Model & Ontology
- Lead or oversee development of canonical data models (CDM) and ontologies.
- Define modelling conventions, versioning, and change control.
- Ensure semantic consistency across domains and trusts.
- Support the creation of a “data twin” representation of operational environments (e.g. acute).
Governance, Assurance & IG
Embed IG -by -design:
- DPIA -driven controls
- role -based access
- audit and traceability
Act as a technical authority during IG, security, and assurance reviews.
Provide evidence and rationale for architectural decisions.
Service Management & Operability
Define the service management model for Foundry as a data platform, including:
- run vs change boundaries
- monitoring and alerting approach
- incident and escalation paths
Produce and maintain architectural runbooks and decision logs.
Support transition from project delivery to steady -state operation.
Technical Leadership & Enablement
Provide technical leadership to Foundry Engineers and internal teams.
Review designs, code patterns, and delivery approaches.
Mentor engineers and uplift internal capability.
Act as the primary technical interface with:
- Palantir
- NHSE
- cloud and assurance stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
Foundry & Data Platforms
- Strong, hands -on experience architecting solutions on Palantir Foundry / FDP.
- Deep understanding of modern data platform architecture concepts.
Data Architecture
Strong background in:
- data modelling
- canonical models
- semantic layers / ontologies
Experience designing for reuse, scale, and governance.
Governance & Assurance
Experience operating in regulated environments (public sector, healthcare).
Strong understanding of:
- data protection
- DPIA processes
- audit and assurance requirements
Leadership & Delivery
- Proven experience leading technical teams in complex programmes.
- Ability to balance delivery pragmatism with architectural integrity.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- NHS or healthcare data platform experience.
- Experience defining service models for data platforms (not just applications).
- Familiarity with multi -tenant or multi -trust architectures.
- Experience supporting board -level or senior stakeholder assurance discussions.
Security & Compliance Requirements
- UK -based role.
- BPSS clearance (or eligible).
- Comfortable operating in environments handling sensitive patient data.
