SourceMaterial is non-profit journalism organisation that publishes high-impact investigations on climate, democracy and corruption. We are looking for a senior journalist/deputy editor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a track record of deep-dive investigative work and a strong news sense acquired through newsroom experience. You will have highly developed instincts for what makes a good story, a thorough understanding of the journalistic process, and a sense of how good journalism can reveal and illuminate. This is predominantly a reporting role, meaning that you will be able to spend most of your time working on important stories and publishing them in partnership with the world’s leading media. Your work will also involve supporting the Editor in leading the team: you will help manage other journalists and play a part in shaping the future of the organisation.

A track record of published work
Knowledge of journalistic practice and the ability to work to the highest journalistic standards
The ability to generate and develop story ideas independently
Strong writing and editing skills

What we can offer you

Work in a well-equipped Central London newsroom (usually four days a week, with flexibility when necessary) and subsidised travel costs
