Sous Chef
Luxury Care Home | £26,000 | 35 Hours Per Week | Permanent Role
Our client, a beautifully appointed luxury care home, is seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join their dedicated kitchen team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef looking to bring their flair and experience to a warm, welcoming, and highly respected care environment. With a focus on fresh ingredients, seasonal menus, and nutritious meals tailored to residents’ needs, the home offers an exceptional dining experience – and they’re looking for a Sous Chef who shares their values.
Supporting the Head Chef, the Sous Chef will help lead the kitchen in delivering high-quality, delicious, and well-presented meals every day. The role is 35 hours per week, providing a great work-life balance without the late-night shifts often expected in the hospitality sector.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional kitchen and is looking to make a positive impact on others through food. Experience in a care setting is preferred but not essential – the team is happy to support the right candidate to transition into the care home sector.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen is essential.
Experience within a care home or similar setting is highly desirable.
A genuine passion for cooking and making a difference through food.
Strong understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and dietary needs.
A team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and service.
Help plan and prepare menus that are nutritious, varied, and meet residents’ dietary requirements.
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to high standards.
Support with kitchen hygiene, stock rotation, and food safety compliance.
Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.
Work collaboratively with care and hospitality staff to ensure residents’ mealtime experience is positive and personal.
