Job Description - Sous Chef

At Town London Ltd, we pride ourselves on offering an exceptional dining experience rooted in the celebration of modern British cuisine. Located in the vibrant Covent Garden area, our restaurant focuses on high-quality seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and suppliers. As we continue to enhance our culinary offerings, we are looking for a talented and dedicated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

The Role

As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee all aspects of the kitchen operations. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of food preparation, presentation, and service. This position offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and managing kitchen operations.
  • Supervise and inspire kitchen staff to ensure food quality, consistency, and adherence to our standards.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance kitchen culture.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain food hygiene standards.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen (3+ years).
  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques and a passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Ability to lead a team and effectively manage kitchen operations under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Creativity in menu contributions and a willingness to innovate.
  • Legal right to work in the UK and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Competitive Pay & Earning Potential
    • £45,000 indicative annual earnings (based on a 48-hour week).
  • Hours & rota: full‑time, 5 days over 7 including evenings and weekends; rotas shared in advance.
  • Holiday: 28 days per year including public holidays (pro rata).
