The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Mechanical Engineer (Building Services / HVAC Specialist) to support and enhance our project delivery team. 

What will you be doing as our new Mechanical Engineer (Building Services / HVAC Specialist)  

You will be responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose ventilation and environmental control solutions for clean water pumping stations. The role ensures the protection of electrical and mechanical assets (e.g., pumps, MCCs), provides suitable working environments for operators, and supports safe, efficient, and resilient water supply infrastructure.

Key responsibilities: 

• Design HVAC and ventilation systems for clean water pumping stations (pump halls, MCC rooms, kiosks)
• Undertake heat load calculations, airflow sizing, and equipment selection
• Develop simple, reliable ventilation strategies (natural and mechanical)
• Produce design deliverables including calculations, specifications, and BIM models
• Coordinate with MEICA, civil, and structural disciplines
• Ensure compliance with water company standards, CIBSE guidance, and CDM regulations
• Participate in design reviews and risk assessments
• Support construction, commissioning, and handover stages

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: 

This job might be for you if you have the following:  

• Educated to degree level in an engineering related subject.
• Demonstrable experience in HVAC Design.
• Ideally have a relevant postgraduate qualification such as CIWEM or a relevant MSc.
• Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven problem-solving capability.
