Special Needs Learning Support Assistant
Location: Harrow
Contract Type: Full-Time
Start Date: September 2025 or Sooner by Arrangement
An Amazing Special School in Harrow is seeking dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistants to join our committed team. We cater to children aged 3 to 11 years with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Experience in a special school or working with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential - we provide extensive training and ongoing professional development.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport children’s learning across a wide range of needs and stages of development
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using a compassionate approach
Assist pupils with personal care needs, always maintaining dignity and fostering independence
Be an active participant in swimming/hydrotherapy sessions - this may involve getting into the pool
Work constructively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
Support children’s learning through play, structured activities, and therapeutic input
Use technology confidently to enhance teaching and learning
Maintain accurate and confidential records where required
Uphold and contribute to the positive, inclusive ethos of the school
Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2
Willingness to undertake ongoing training relevant to the role
Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion in education (in line with the Equality Act 2010)
Awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety standards
Capacity to support children’s physical, personal, and sensory needs with respect and sensitivity
A mindset that promotes independence, communication, and active participation
Ability to reflect, manage your own well-being, and demonstrate emotional resilience
A nurturing and high-performing team culture
