We are looking for a dedicated Special Needs Tutor to deliver personalised, 1:1 intervention sessions in Gateshead, supporting learners who need a different approach to re-engage with learning and rebuild their confidence.
This role is ideal for someone who understands that learning starts with relationships, trust and a genuine understanding of the individual.
The Role
You will deliver tailored, one-to-one intervention sessions, creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment where young people feel understood, valued and motivated to succeed.
You will need to think outside the box, adapt your approach and develop creative lesson plans that capture the interests of learners who may have struggled to engage with traditional education.
Key Responsibilities

* Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and participation.
* Create imaginative, flexible and interest-led lesson plans that make learning accessible and enjoyable.
* Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual needs, abilities, interests and learning styles.
* Support learners to develop their confidence, resilience, communication and independent learning skills.
* Re-engage young people who may have experienced barriers to education or disengaged from learning.
* Monitor progress and celebrate small steps of achievement.
* Create a calm, inclusive and encouraging environment where every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Relationship-focused: Able to build trust and connect with young people who may be reluctant to engage.
* Creative and resourceful: Confident in developing lessons that spark curiosity and make learning relevant.
* Patient and empathetic: Understanding that progress looks different for every learner.
* Adaptable: Able to respond to changing needs, interests and engagement levels.
* Passionate about inclusion: Committed to helping every young person realise their potential.
* Experienced in tutoring, teaching, SEND support, alternative provision or working with young people who face barriers to education.
Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH needs or those who have become disengaged from mainstream education would be particularly beneficial.
What We Offer
* £30 per hour.
* 1:1 intervention work where you can make a genuine difference.
* The opportunity to build meaningful relationships and deliver truly personalised learning.
* A rewarding role focused on confidence, engagement, and positive outcomes.
