Sports Coach & Outdoor Learning TA – Plymouth – £100–£105 – Temp to Perm – Start ASAP

Are you passionate about sport, adventure, and helping young people thrive outside the classroom? We’re looking for an energetic Sports Coach & Outdoor Learning Teaching Assistant to support young people aged 5–16 in and around Exeter — helping them re-engage with learning through movement, outdoor activities, and trust-building experiences.

This full-time role (Mon–Fri, 08:30–15:30) is a temp-to-perm opportunity with immediate start. You’ll be working in a specialist environment that supports students who have been excluded from mainstream education, often with EHCPs, SEMH needs, or other additional challenges.

Rather than a traditional classroom setting, you’ll be supporting students through active, hands-on learning. That could mean helping them gain confidence through beach games, forest walks, sports drills, trampoline park visits, or simply building relationships while exploring the outdoors.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Supporting students 1:1 or in small groups in physical and outdoor-based activities
• Leading or assisting with sport, movement, and outdoor learning sessions
• Acting as a mentor and positive role model, helping young people build confidence, routine, and emotional regulation
• Driving students to off-site activities and community learning spaces
• Working alongside a supportive, passionate team to help each student find their spark
   

Essential criteria:

• Background in sports coaching, youth work, care, or outdoor education
• Experience working with young people (especially those with additional needs or behavioural challenges)
• A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and willingness to add business insurance (you’ll be reimbursed 45p/mile for student transport)
• A passion for outdoor learning, resilience-building, and making a real difference
