Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Worksop
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026

Are you from a sports, coaching or fitness background and looking to use your skills in a school setting? A welcoming school in Worksop is seeking a Sports Coach to provide classroom-based support and help students engage positively with their education.

About the Role:

As a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, you will work within the classroom rather than delivering sports lessons. Your sporting background can provide valuable transferable skills such as behaviour management, resilience, structure and motivating young people. You may support pupils across Primary or Secondary settings, including classroom activities, behaviour support, cover supervision or SEN support depending on the school's needs.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to pupils across the school.

Support students with behaviour, engagement and participation in learning.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and day-to-day learning.

Provide cover supervision and help maintain a calm, structured classroom environment.

Support pupils with additional needs where appropriate.

Build positive working relationships with pupils and staff.

Use transferable skills from sport and coaching to encourage resilience, focus and positive behaviour.

Requirements:

Previous experience in sports, coaching, fitness or working with young people is desirable.

Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Ability to provide structure and maintain clear boundaries.

A genuine interest in supporting children and young people in education.

Previous classroom, SEN or school-based experience is advantageous.

To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
