Steel Yard & FLT Operative

Due to an internal promotion, we are recruiting for a Steel Yard & FLT Operative to join a well-established and growing steel business.

Steel Yard & FLT Operative

Location: Dudley

Pay: £12.75 per hour

Hours: Contracted to 40 hours per week

* Typical working hours are 6:00am – 4:30pm due to overtime requirements

* Overtime paid at time and a half

* Occasional Saturday work available

* Available on either a permanent or temp-to-perm basis

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position working within a busy steel yard environment. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of duties and will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the operation.

Duties will include:

* Loading and unloading steel deliveries

* Operating a Forklift Truck

* Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard

* Breaking down and clearing pallets

* Material handling and stock movement

* General yard and housekeeping duties

* This role offers plenty of variety. Some days will be fast-paced and demanding, while others will be quieter, so a flexible and proactive approach is essential.

The Candidate

* Previous experience working within a steel environment is essential

* FLT experience is preferred

* Positive attitude with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the role

* Reliable and hardworking

* Team player with a flexible approach

* Keen to learn new skills and support other areas of the business when required

* This role would also suit someone with a background as a steel delivery driver looking for a site-based position
