Stock Control / Business Administrator

Location: Huntingdon

Salary: To be confirmed

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Commercial Recruitment is delighted to be working with our client, an established and independently run UK distributor within the orthopaedic sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an organised and detail-focused Stock Control / Business Administrator to join their team.

This is a varied role combining stock control, purchasing, logistics and general business administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their workload and ensuring everything is accurate and well organised.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and control of high-value orthopaedic implants, instruments and loan kits. Accuracy, traceability and attention to detail are essential, as you will be working with stock that needs to be carefully monitored and managed.

You will also provide wider administrative support to the office team and work closely with colleagues and suppliers to ensure stock is available when required.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

* Manage stock across multiple suppliers.

* Maintain accurate stock records using Microsoft Business Central.

* Record and monitor lot and serial numbers.

* Complete regular cycle counts and full stock takes.

* Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.

* Maintain stock projection spreadsheets to support forecasting.

* Oversee goods-in, put-away, picking, packing and dispatch.

* Organise courier collections.

Loan Kit Management

* Monitor loan kits and ensure instruments are accounted for.

* Report missing or damaged instruments and arrange repairs or replacements.

Compliance & Quality

* Maintain accurate stock traceability and records.

* Manage quarantined and non-conforming products.

* Support product recalls where required.

* Maintain temperature monitoring records.

* Assist with audits and ensure documentation is kept up to date.

Purchasing & Planning

* Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels.

* Raise purchase orders with suppliers.

* Maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

* Track supplier lead times and outstanding back orders.

* Monitor expiry dates and take action on stock approaching expiry.

* Support the ordering of additional loan and consignment kits.

* Identify opportunities to reduce slow-moving and obsolete stock.

Administration & Logistics

Support the day-to-day sales order process.

Assist with loan kit bookings.

Input daily product usage.

Deal with telephone calls and queries.

Support the invoicing process.

Assist colleagues across the business when required.

Oversee goods-in and returns to suppliers.

Reporting

Produce weekly and monthly stock reports.

Complete regular stock level reporting to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and exceptionally detail-focused. You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of stock and administration while also being happy to support the wider team.

Essential:

At least 2 years' experience in stock or inventory management.

Previous office experience.

Excellent attention to detail.

Strong Excel and Word skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

A positive and adaptable approach.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A proactive approach with the ability to achieve results.

Willingness to learn and develop your product knowledge.

Desirable:

Experience working with lot or serial number traceability.

Experience with expiry control.

Experience using Microsoft Business Central or similar stock management systems.

You will need to be a quick learner with a strong work ethic, excellent housekeeping and organisational skills, and the ability to adapt your approach when required.
