Location: Suffolk Project: Sizewell C Contract: 6-month rolling contract, expected to be a minimum of 2 years Rate: £550 per day PAYE Umbrella Role: Structures Site Agent We are currently recruiting for a Structures Site Agent to join a major infrastructure project supporting the delivery of Sizewell C in Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structures Agent / Site Agent with a strong background in civil engineering and structural works. The initial contract is 6 months, rolling, with the project expected to run for a minimum of 2 years. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of structural work packages, working closely with the Senior Project Manager, engineering teams, designers, subcontractors and the client.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and delivery of structural work packages, including bridges, culverts, retaining structures, reinforced concrete and associated civil works. Develop short- and medium-term programmes, resource plans, construction sequences and forecasts. Ensure works are delivered safely in accordance with approved RAMS, permits, lift plans and project HSEQ requirements. Coordinate permanent works design information, design reviews, technical queries, buildability reviews and design changes. Manage temporary works requirements, ensuring designs, checks, permits and inspections are completed before use or loading. Plan and control structural activities including piling interfaces, falsework, formwork, reinforcement, concrete pours, bearings, waterproofing, drainage and bridge finishes. Review drawings, specifications, ITPs, material approvals and supplier information before works commence. Manage hold points, witness points, inspections, test results, concrete records, as-built information and handover documentation. Lead structural quality assurance, identifying and resolving non-conformances and ensuring defects are closed out effectively. Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, Site Engineers and Supervisors, monitoring safety, quality, productivity and progress. Manage interfaces with earthworks, highways, drainage, utilities, traffic management and environmental teams. Monitor quantities, labour, plant, materials, waste and subcontract performance, supporting cost control and forecasting. Provide accurate progress updates, risk and opportunity information and recovery actions. Maintain effective communication with the client, designers, independent checkers, statutory stakeholders and wider project team. Support commissioning, completion, asset information, structure records, handover and closure of outstanding works. Provide day-to-day leadership to Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors, promoting accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure structural works are delivered to programme, budget, specification and assurance requirements. Plan logistics for major concrete pours, heavy lifts, abnormal deliveries, cranes and constrained access. Champion safe working practices, environmental compliance, workforce wellbeing and an inclusive working environment.
Requirements
Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience. Strong previous experience in a Structures Site Agent / Agent position. Proven experience delivering structural concrete, reinforcement and formwork. Experience working on bridges, culverts, retaining structures or major highway structures. Experience managing subcontractors and structural work packages on major infrastructure projects. Valid CSCS card appropriate to the role. SMSTS. Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Coordinator training appropriate to the appointment. Good working knowledge of structural concrete, reinforcement, formwork, lifting operations, ITPs and construction assurance. Strong understanding of construction programmes, quality, health & safety and commercial interfaces. Appointed Person or lifting operations awareness would be desirable. Professional membership of ICE or IStructE, or progress towards EngTech, IEng or CEng, would be desirable.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of structural work packages and provide strong day-to-day leadership on site. You will need to be confident coordinating multiple teams and interfaces, making decisions, managing programme and quality requirements, and ensuring works are delivered safely and right first time. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, alongside the ability to build effective relationships with the client, designers, engineers, subcontractors and wider project team.
