We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and committed Student Support Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive secondary school in Hackney.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN/SEND) and wants to play an important role in helping students achieve their potential, both academically and personally.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff, you will provide targeted support to students who may have a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop their confidence and become increasingly independent.
The role
As a Student Support Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Support students to access the secondary school curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
* Work alongside teachers to adapt and differentiate learning activities where appropriate.
* Help students develop their communication, social, emotional and organisational skills.
* Support students who may experience barriers to learning, including difficulties with attention, communication, emotional regulation or social interaction.
* Encourage positive behaviour and promote students' independence and self-esteem.
* Contribute to the implementation of individual support plans and strategies.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, pastoral teams, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
* Monitor students' progress and contribute to reviews and feedback.
* Support the wider life of the school and contribute to an inclusive, respectful and positive learning environment.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
* Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
* Is patient, compassionate, resilient and approachable.
* Has high expectations of every student and believes that all young people can succeed.
* Can build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
* Is able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations.
* Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Is organised, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a busy school team.
* Is willing to learn and develop their understanding of SEN and evidence-based support strategies.
* Has experience working with young people with SEN/SEND (desirable but not essential).
* Has previous experience in a school or educational setting (desirable).
What we can offer
We are proud to offer:
* A welcoming and inclusive school community in the heart of Hackney.
* The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.
* A supportive SEN and pastoral team.
* Access to training and professional development.
* Opportunities to develop your career within education.
* A positive working environment where staff are valued and supported.
