Subject Lead - Business & Hospitality

We are seeking a Subject Lead to join a Academic Department at a prestigious higher educational institution who are opening a new campus in Birmingham. This role focuses on creating holistic approaches to teaching and learning within the specified subject area, ensuring that the experiences delivered will progress and retain students. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the design, development, and delivery of a range of modules within the curriculum.

• Lead a range of modules across the specific subject discipline, ensuring educational and professional standards of good practice in teaching, delivery, and curriculum development.
• Oversee the delivery of learning objectives, ensuring that content and assessments are relevant to students.
• Conduct monitoring, evaluation, and review of activities, responding to student feedback.
• Coordinate teaching/support delivered by staff and demonstrators.
• Engage with administrative and quality assurance processes required by the College and our validating partner.
• Develop, organise, and manage named module(s) and enhance the academic experience of the students.
• Maintain strong links with related industries and professional bodies to stay updated with the latest developments in the subject area.
• Work with the academic team on curriculum development and review cross-disciplinary teaching strategies.
• Utilize College and other information and communication technologies to facilitate and enhance students’ learning experiences.
• Assist the Course Director in various administrative and academic tasks, promoting the exchange of ideas and methods of working across specialist areas.

• Relevant BA and postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent).
• Expertise in developing course materials and teaching Business, Art and Design at Foundation level.
• Demonstrable ability to motivate and work collaboratively with staff and students.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering units of study that introduce and develop the complex range of theoretical and practical concerns of the discipline.
• Effective planning and management skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

• PhD or Higher-level research degree.
• Fellowship (or Higher) of the Higher Education Academy.
• Experience of leading and managing education in a Higher Education environment.
• Evidence of research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of the discipline.
