About the job: 

We’re looking for a Subsurface Performance Advisor to join our Subsurface Performance team, supporting strategic decision-making across the Capital Development organisation. 

Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will: 

• Lead data analysis and strategic insight generation across exploration, access, and resource opportunities to support the Capital Development leadership team 

• Support the Head of Exploration on key processes, including:  

• Exploration Write-offs and Carry Value Certificates 

• Exploration Forum and leadership briefings 

• Inputs into Investor Relations for external disclosures 

• Tracking access, commitments, well results, and competitor insights 

• Support DRO project through activity tracking, cost management, and alignment with central finance teams 

• Partner with the Subsurface Portfolio team to contribute to long-term planning and strategic decision-making 

• Support and continuously improve the Quarterly Performance Forecast (QPF) process 

• Develop and deliver standardised, automated MI reporting, including dashboards, reports, and analytical tools 

• Collaborate with key partners to measure performance and generate insights for quarterly scorecards 

• Produce high-quality performance materials for group and P&O performance reviews

We’re interested in people who bring a balance of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset. 

You may be a great fit if you have: 

• A strong subsurface technical background, ideally with experience in Exploration or DRO 

• Advanced data analysis skills, including experience with Power BI, Excel, and emerging analytics tools (including AI) 

• Ability to translate complex or incomplete data into clear, actionable insights to support senior decision-making 

• A curious, proactive approach and genuine interest in understanding how technical activity links to business performance 

• Experience improving processes, tools, or ways of working 

• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across technical and finance-focused teams 

• A collaborative approach and ability to build effective relationships across a global organisation 

Desirable experience (not essential) 

We recognise that skills and experience come in many forms. It would be beneficial if you also bring experience in: 

• Management reporting, dashboards, or performance visualisation 

• Understanding commercial drivers, financial fundamentals, and market dynamics 

• Exposure to other bp technical or enabling fields (e.g. wells, production, projects, finance, HSE&C, I&E) 

• Business planning and translating strategy into actionable plans 

• Advanced analytics, modelling, or data science (including AI or machine learning) 

• Scenario modelling, benchmarking, or market intelligence
