About the Role
An established and growing construction contractor is seeking an experienced Working Site Supervisor / Carpenter to join its expanding project delivery team.
Operating across a range of refurbishment and maintenance projects for major public sector and commercial clients, the company offers stable, long-term employment, a strong pipeline of secured work, and opportunities for career progression.
Projects are primarily located across London, Kent, the Home Counties, and Oxfordshire, involving both internal and external refurbishment works to occupied and operational buildings.
The Role
This is a hands-on supervisory position requiring a strong carpentry background alongside the ability to manage site operations effectively.
You will be responsible for supervising site teams, maintaining health and safety standards, coordinating works, and ensuring projects are delivered to quality, programme, and client expectations. You will also be expected to work on the tools when required.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day site operations across multiple projects Lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures Monitor quality standards and project specifications Coordinate labour, materials, and site resources Complete site records, progress reports, and documentation Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders Resolve site issues and maintain programme delivery Undertake carpentry and general multi-trade works as required Promote high standards of workmanship and customer service
Requirements
Essential
Minimum 3 years' construction experience Previous supervisory or working foreman experience Strong carpentry background Full UK Driving Licence Own basic toolkit Ability to read and interpret construction drawings Good communication and organisational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Willingness to travel across the South East
Desirable
The following qualifications would be advantageous, although training can be provided:
Thames Water Passport EUSR Accreditation First Aid Certification
