Supplier Quality Engineer

Are you an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer looking to join a global engineering and manufacturing business at the forefront of innovation?
Our client is a well-established international manufacturer with a strong reputation for engineering excellence, technical innovation and continuous investment in both its people and technology. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer to strengthen their Quality team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with suppliers across the UK and Europe, driving quality improvements, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring world-class supplier performance.
The Role
As Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and managing the supply chain, ensuring suppliers consistently meet quality, technical and regulatory requirements.
Working closely with Procurement, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, you'll audit suppliers, support supplier development initiatives, investigate quality issues, and drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
This role involves regular travel to supplier sites across the UK, with occasional travel within Europe (approximately 60%).
Key Responsibilities
Conduct supplier qualification, process and surveillance audits.
Assess supplier compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
Qualify and onboard new suppliers through capability assessments and supplier approval processes.
Monitor supplier performance against quality, delivery and regulatory requirements.
Drive supplier improvement activities using root cause analysis, 8D and corrective action plans.
Support supplier development programmes to improve quality, delivery and manufacturing capability.
Maintain supplier scorecards, quality KPIs and supplier risk assessments.
Review supplier quality documentation, including weld procedures, inspection reports, material certificates and quality plans.
Support new product introductions (NPI) and supplier validation activities.
Participate in PPAP, FAIR and product approval processes.
Ensure supplier compliance with pressure equipment and safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
Promote Lean Manufacturing, defect reduction and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain.
About You
You'll be an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a strong manufacturing background and excellent auditing skills.
Essential
Previous experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer within manufacturing, HVAC or engineered products.
Strong knowledge of supplier quality management and supplier development.
Experience conducting supplier audits.
Working knowledge of:
ISO 9001
ISO 3834
Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
Understanding of fabrication, welding, CNC machining, mechanical assembly and quality inspection techniques.
Experience using quality tools including APQP, PPAP, 8D and FMEA.
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Willingness to travel to supplier sites across the UK and occasionally Europe (approximately 60%).
Desirable
Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering or a related discipline.
Engineering, Metallurgy or Manufacturing Technology qualification.
Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification (IRCA or equivalent).
Knowledge of industrial materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, brass and copper.
Experience within pressure equipment, fabricated products or engineered manufacturing environments.
