Job Description - Supply Plan Manager

Role Overview:

As our Supply Planning Manager you will be required to manage the inflow and availability of our product range, maximising availability and our OTIF delivery performance to our customers.  

You will work closely with the Demand Planning Manager and the wider supply chain team ensuring that product sales forecasts are understood and that purchase orders are placed and goods received from our suppliers in a timely fashion in support of this.

The goal of this role is to ensure that the right inventory is available all the time. This will be achieved by managing supplier performance and managing supply chain exceptions in an organized timely manner and communicating effectively and coherently with internal stakeholders.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the supply chain leadership team
  • Own the purchase order process with suppliers
  • Manage supplier performance against agreed SLA’s/KPI’s
  • Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes
  • Set-up and own material master planning parameters (MOQ’s, lead times, safety stocks)   
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all goods, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential issues or areas of concern
  • Co-ordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
  • Advanced proficiency with software systems – including IFS systems and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills required)
  • Proven working experience within a demand and supply planning role
  • Experience of managing suppliers and their performance
  • Analytical with strong communication skills at all levels and a confident team player
  • Excellent problem solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Experience using forecasting tools and the ability to interpret data to improve performance within the demand and supply function.
  • Proven ability to work quickly and accurately, with an eye on suggesting improvements to processes and systems.
  • Meticulous organisation skills and a keen attention for details
  • Relishes variety, whilst maintaining a methodical approach to getting the job done
  • Great communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to get things done via others
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of people to motivate them, provide guidance and encourage an environment where all have a voice
  • Able to influence and negotiate persuasively at peers and senior level internally and externally
  • Dynamic approach to problem solving on medium as well as short term issues
  • Highly analytical with the ability to work with large data, whilst being able to summarise the detail and essence to key stakeholders
