Support Technician (Field Service & Manufacturing) Location: Whiteley (with UK-wide travel) Salary: Up to £35,000 annually *Must hold a valid UK driving license*
Overview
We are currently partnering with an innovative and growing company based in Whiteley, who are looking to appoint a hands-on Support Technician to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the intersection of field service, manufacturing, and product development, supporting a cutting-edge fleet of instruments while working closely with both customers and internal teams.
The Role
As a Support Technician, you will play a key role in the build, deployment, servicing, and continuous improvement of the company's instrument range. This is a highly varied, field-based role requiring regular UK travel, offering exposure to real-world environments and direct customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Commission and install instruments at customer sites across the UK, including delivering user training Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment Support the manufacturing process, including instrument builds and completion of detailed build records Maintain and upgrade the internal instrument fleet, carrying out preventative maintenance Accurately document service activities, faults, and corrective actions Provide structured feedback to the R&D team to support product improvements and innovation Contribute to the development of SOPs, work instructions, test procedures, and service documentation Manage your own travel schedule and coordinate directly with customers and internal teams
What We're Looking For
Strong hands-on engineering capability with a practical, problem-solving mindset Minimum 3 years' experience working with electromechanical equipment (ideally PLC-controlled systems) Previous experience in field service and working within regulated environments Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 preferred) Excellent communication skills, particularly when working independently on customer sites Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for multi-day assignments
Desirable Experience
Background in medical devices or fluidics systems Experience supporting product development or collaborating with R&D teams Exposure to complex instrumentation or advanced electromechanical systems
