Job Description - Support Worker

Housing Support Worker

Location: Swinton - Covering the Salford area

Hours: 35 hours per week | Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Salary: £25,000 - £31,000 per annum (depending on experience)

A rapidly expanding supported housing provider specialising in working with asylum seekers and vulnerable individuals across Greater Manchester. With over 25 years of experience, they provide more than just homes- they offer hope, empowerment, and a real pathway to independence.

Your Role as a Housing Support Worker:

You'll be based at the Swinton office and work across Greater Manchester-particularly in the Salford area.

As a Housing Support Worker, you'll manage a property of 6-8 service users, backed by two experienced Housing Managers who'll support safeguarding and conflict resolution.

Your day-to-day impact as a Housing Support Worker will include:

- Assessing and onboarding new tenants

- Supporting access to Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and welfare entitlements

- Creating personalised support plans and risk assessments

- Teaching key life skills and encouraging steps into education or employment

- Liaising with health professionals, local authorities, and partner agencies

- Monitoring property conditions and managing tenancy issues

Essential components for the Housing Support Worker role:

- Compassionate, resilient, and non-judgemental approach

- Strong written and verbal communication

- Able to manage your own diary and workload

- Confident with email and basic IT systems

- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

- Experience handling conflict or supporting people in crisis

- Full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance

Desirable attributes for the Housing Support Worker role:

- Experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, or vulnerable adults

- Knowledge of welfare systems, tenancy law, or supported housing

- Fluency in additional languages

- Familiarity with trauma-informed care or multi-agency working
