Pay: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour

Job description:

Support Worker

Peerment

About Peerment

Peerment provides supported accommodation to adults aged 18 and over with a wide range of support needs. We help people build the skills and confidence to live independently in their own communities. We do not provide regulated care — our focus is practical, person-centred support that helps people move forward.

About the role

As a Support Worker you will work directly with the adults living in our accommodation, supporting them day to day and helping them work towards the goals in their support plans. Every person we support is different, and the role calls for patience, flexibility and a genuine belief that people can move on with the right backing.

You will be part of a small, close team where your input is noticed and your judgement matters.

What you will be doing

* Providing practical, one-to-one support to adults aged 18+ in line with their individual support plans

* Building trusting, professional relationships with the people we support, based on respect and clear boundaries

* Helping people develop everyday living skills — budgeting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry and managing a tenancy

* Supporting people to attend appointments and to engage with health, housing, benefits, education, training and employment services

* Encouraging engagement with the local community and with activities people are interested in

* Working alongside external professionals such as social workers, mental health teams, probation, drug and alcohol services and housing officers

* Keeping accurate, timely and professional records of support delivered

* Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns and risks promptly and appropriately

* Contributing to reviews of support plans and risk assessments

* Carrying out property checks and reporting maintenance issues

* Responding calmly and appropriately to incidents, and following our policies afterwards

* Handling personal and sensitive information confidentially and in line with data protection requirements

What we are looking for

Essential:

* A genuine commitment to supporting adults to live independently

* Ability to build professional relationships and maintain clear boundaries

* Good written communication, with the ability to keep clear and accurate records

* Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond well to challenging situations

* Reliable, with the flexibility to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

* Willingness to complete all mandatory training

* Basic IT skills for recording and reporting

Desirable:

* Previous experience in supported accommodation, housing, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse or criminal justice settings

* Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards one

* Knowledge of the benefits system and local support services

* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

What we offer

* Full induction and ongoing training

* Regular supervision and support from an experienced management team

* Support to gain relevant qualifications

* The chance to shape the role as Peerment grows

Additional information

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Peerment is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the adults we support, and expects all staff to share that commitment.
