Production Operative – Surface Finishing

Salary: £27,000 – £28,000 per annum

Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Production Operative – Surface Finishing on behalf of our client based in Bishop's Stortford.

The successful candidate will work within the Production Department, carrying out a range of surface preparation, grit blasting, bonding and finishing activities on tanks and components used within specialist capital equipment.

This position could suit someone with previous experience in grit or shot blasting, powder coating, paint preparation, metal finishing, surface treatment or a similar hands-on manufacturing environment.

Main Purpose of the Role

To carry out blasting, surface preparation, bonding and finishing processes to the required quality standards, ensuring components are correctly prepared, inspected and ready for the next stage of production.

The successful candidate will work to defined processes and work instructions while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.

Roles & Responsibilities

Grit blast a variety of tanks and accessory products under controlled conditions.

Clean and prepare tanks and components prior to bonding and finishing.

Apply adhesive materials for the bonding of transducers to tanks.

Assemble fixtures and jigs prior to the bonding process.

Carry out surface preparation and finishing activities to the required standards.

Inspect finished products before they are issued to the assembly line.

Identify any quality issues or defects and ensure they are reported appropriately.

Maintain machinery and equipment used within the blasting and bonding areas.

Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the working environment.

Read engineering drawings and follow detailed work instructions.

Maintain accurate production and process records.

Work in accordance with established process control requirements.

Manage workload effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.

Follow all relevant Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.

Work closely with colleagues across the Production Department to achieve required production and quality standards.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience within grit blasting, shot blasting, powder coating, paint preparation, metal finishing, surface treatment or a similar finishing environment.

Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment.

Approximately two years' experience within a relevant position, or the ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of and enthusiasm for this type of work.

Good practical and hands-on skills.

The ability to read drawings and follow detailed work instructions to a high standard.

A good understanding of quality and process-controlled working environments.

Good time management and organisational skills.

The ability to maintain accurate records.

A strong awareness of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.

Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.

The ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.

A self-motivated and positive approach to work.

Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels.

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £27,000 – £28,000 per annum.
