Surface Grinder

About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Cylindrical and Surface Grinder to join our precision engineering team based in Birmingham. In this role, you will play a vital part in producing high-tolerance components, working with advanced, hard-wearing materials to meet exact customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Machining: Set up and operate cylindrical and surface grinding machines to achieve tight tolerances and superior surface finishes.

Component Inspection: Use precision measuring equipment (such as micrometers, verniers, and dial indicators) to verify dimensions and ensure strict quality control.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing process sheets.

*

Machine Maintenance: Perform routine daily maintenance, checks, and basic troubleshooting on grinding equipment to ensure optimal performance.

*

Quality & Safety Standards: Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere strictly to all company health and safety protocols.

Requirements

Proven professional experience operating cylindrical and/or surface grinding machines.

*

Strong background in high-precision manufacturing, tight-tolerance work, and working with challenging or hard materials.

*

Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation independently.

Proficient in using a variety of precision inspection and measuring tools.

*

A meticulous eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality.
