A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented and proactive Tax & Finance Projects Accountant. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of tax disciplines while gaining exposure to financial accounting, project work, and business-critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Tax Manager with UK tax matters including VAT, Corporation Tax and PAYE/NIC compliance.
* Prepare current and deferred tax calculations for financial statement reporting.
* Assist with half-year and year-end corporation tax reporting requirements.
* Prepare and submit Corporation Tax returns and supporting calculations.
* Manage group relief processes, claims and related payments.
* Produce quarterly VAT returns and ensure ongoing VAT compliance.
* Support the preparation of PAYE Settlement Agreements and incentive scheme reporting.
* Prepare tax reconciliations and balance sheet supporting schedules.
* Assist with capital allowance calculations and transfer pricing compliance activities.
* Support Senior Accounting Officer compliance processes.
* Liaise with external advisors on tax compliance and regulatory matters.
* Contribute to financial accounting activities, treasury cover and finance-related project work.
* Maintain and improve departmental procedures and controls.

Requirements

* Previous experience preparing VAT returns and working with VAT regulations.
* Working knowledge of Corporation Tax and tax accounting principles.
* Experience within a tax compliance, advisory, practice, commercial finance or HMRC environment.
* Understanding of current and deferred tax accounting.
* Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
* Experience with tax software and general accounting activities would be advantageous.
