Job Description - Tax Assistant

REED Recruitment are actively working with a client (Accountancy Practice) based near to Sherborne / Gillingham area, North Dorset.

The Director would welcome a candidate who is keen to grow their Tax Expertise, (studying towards ATT or QBE) working in a practice firm.

On offer is a competitive salary, (Up to £40,000 depending on experience) and study support.

This is an office based position

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of personal and corporate tax returns
  • Support the tax team with client correspondence and HMRC communications
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and tax files
  • Conduct basic tax research and assist with tax planning projects
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary information and respond to queries
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely filing of tax documents
  • Assist with VAT returns, PAYE, and other tax-related filings as required
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and compliance requirements

Requirements

Essential:

  • Working towards ATT or Qualified by Experience
  • Previous experience in a tax or accountancy practice environment
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting/tax software (e.g., Sage, Xero, TaxCalc)
