Tax Assistant - Law Firm

Meraki Talent are recruiting for a Private Client Tax Assistant to join a highly regarded Law firm.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative Private Client team working with a diverse portfolio of high net worth individuals, other individual clients, trusts, estates, and charities. This role offers flexibility, with the option to be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Aberdeen, alongside 50% hybrid working.

Key responsibilities will include

• Preparation of tax returns for Private Client Portfolio
• Submitting tax returns and arranging payments to HMRC within the relevant deadlines
• Dealing with straightforward HMRC enquiries into tax returns
• Liaising with clients to gather necessary information and funds in a timely manner
• Advising clients in relation to their tax returns, relevant claims, elections, and tax liabilities
• Keeping up to date with developments in tax compliance and legislation, and sharing relevant updates with clients and colleagues

You do not have to tick all the boxes - training and continuous progression is provided!

The ideal candidate will have

• Relevant experience from a Law or an Accountancy Firm preparing tax returns for Private Client Portfolio
• Proficiency in using tax software and HMRC online forms
• A strong understanding of tax compliance processes and legislation
• Excellent communication skills
• A solutions-driven approach
• Good teamworking
